H.G & Sons was founded in a Cornish coastal town est. 1925.

The son of a sea captain, H.G Horatio Smith grew up watching his father wreck seven ships along the coast. Despite bearing the name of the great Horatio Nelson — he swore off a maritime life.

At 14, he left for London to train as a tailor. Years later, he returned and built a multi-generation family business making practical, hard-wearing clothing for life on the coast.

Today, Reuben (H.G.’s great-grandson) has launched the new online store with the same commitment to quality and practicality as ever. With a passion for sea fishing and travel, each item is designed for intensive outdoor use. If you reach out with a question, I will be at your assistance.
